Established MMXXVI · A program of Med&X
Senior leaders of Croatian biomedicine, at home and abroad.
The Biomedical Forum brings together directors, professors, and senior physicians and scientists, Croatian by origin or leading biomedicine within Croatia, from across the world. Together they work to accelerate the development of Croatian biomedicine.
An invited community of people who have spent their careers at the head of institutes, faculties, and clinical departments, and who now work to advance the next generation and Croatian biomedicine as a whole.
What the Forum is
The Biomedical Forum is a community of Croatia’s senior biomedical leaders, at home and across the world. It brings together those who lead institutes, hospital departments, faculties, and laboratories, Croatian by origin or leading biomedicine within Croatia, in one shared purpose: to accelerate the development of Croatian biomedicine.
Membership is by invitation. What the Forum offers is company of the right kind. A place where a hospital director and a laboratory head can speak plainly, compare notes across fields, and find concrete ways to make an impact together.
Everything is conducted with restraint. There is nothing to perform, and little asked of a member beyond a genuine willingness to help move Croatian biomedicine forward.
How the Forum makes an impact
Meeting and exchange
Senior colleagues meet as equals, away from the podium, to share judgment on the direction of a field, the shape of an institution, and the decisions that carry weight.
Mentoring the next generation
Members open doors for those earlier in their careers: hosting Accelerator students and scientists, lecturing at Plexus, and giving their time to promising young researchers.
Accelerating Croatian biomedicine
Together, members look for concrete ways to advance Croatian biomedicine, at home and in its ties with leading institutions abroad, for the benefit of both.
One community, working to accelerate Croatian biomedicine.
By invitation, or the nomination of a member.
One comes to the Forum in one of two ways: invited by the Office of the Forum, or put forward by a member who can speak to a colleague’s standing and character. There is no application fee and no membership fee. There never has been, and there never will be.
Names are welcomed with care, and every reply is a considered one. Membership is kept private, and no member is named in public.
Membership of the Forum
Standing
Members are senior figures such as directors of institutes and clinics, full professors, deans, heads of department, the leadership of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and senior figures in public health.
A Croatian connection
Each member holds a Croatian connection: Croatian by origin, wherever in the world their work has taken them, or leading biomedicine within Croatia itself. The fields are drawn widely, from the laboratory bench to the clinic and the lecture hall.
What membership asks
No annual fee
Membership carries no dues. There is nothing to pay, and there never will be.
Contribute in at least one way
Each member helps in a way that suits them: opening a door, giving a lecture, or mentoring someone earlier in their career.
Take part in the Annual Forum
Every member is welcome at the annual Biomedical Forum gathering, where the community meets and finds new ways to make an impact.
A President, an Honorary Council, and its members.
The Forum is founded and run by Med&X. It is led by its President, guided by an Honorary Council of senior figures, and made up of its members.
Alen Juginović, MD
President of the Biomedical Forum
Senior figures of the highest standing in Croatian and international biomedicine sit on the Honorary Council. Its members are being confirmed, and will be announced in the autumn of 2026.
The Forum’s members are its heart: senior physicians, scientists, and biomedical leaders from Croatia and across the world, each bringing their experience to bear on the development of Croatian biomedicine.
The annual Biomedical Forum, a gathering to make an impact.
Once a year the Forum gathers in Croatia. Members meet, network, and find concrete ways to advance Croatian biomedicine, from mentorships and hosting Accelerator students and scientists to lecturing at Plexus, opening doors, and generating new ideas together.
Two days of meeting, exchange, and new ideas
Croatia · the venue is confirmed to members
Members gather for talks and unhurried conversation on the latest developments in biomedicine and on the work of the Forum’s own members, with dedicated time to meet, to network, and to shape practical ways to help Croatian biomedicine grow.
And again in December, during Plexus week.
Each December, during Plexus week, members also gather within the wider Med&X community, at the Plexus Conference and at the Plexus Gala, where the Med&X annual award for contributions to Croatian biomedicine is presented.
Organizations that help accelerate Croatian biomedicine.
The Forum and its annual gathering are supported by organizations, not individuals, that share our purpose. Sponsorship is kept tasteful and senior, in keeping with the Forum itself.
For organizations, not individuals
Sponsorship is open to companies and institutions that wish to support the Forum and its annual gathering, and to be associated with the development of Croatian biomedicine.
Quarterly, never intrusive
Sponsors are included in the Forum’s quarterly updates to members. Members are never sent monthly messages. The cadence is deliberately quiet and respectful.
Presence at the Gala
Sponsors are recognized where it matters most, with visibility at the Plexus Gala among the leaders of Croatian and world biomedicine.
Support the Forum, and be seen among leaders.
If your organization would like to support the Biomedical Forum and its annual gathering, we would be glad to talk. Every arrangement is considered, and shaped to suit you.
Sponsorship is open to organizations only. Members’ inboxes are respected: sponsor updates reach them no more than quarterly, never monthly.
The Forum, set out in a single considered document.
The Forum brochure describes the Forum, its purpose, and its year in full, a quiet reference to read at leisure, or to share with a colleague you would put forward.
Ask to be considered.
If you believe your standing, or that of a colleague, belongs within the Forum, you are welcome to write. A few lines on who you are, and why the Forum would be of mutual value, is all that is needed. We reply to each note personally, and without hurry.
