Med&X began with a doctor from Split. Alen Juginović trained in Croatia and went on to research at Harvard, and kept meeting brilliant people at home who deserved the same chance to work with the world's best.
It grew from a question many Croatian clinicians and scientists ask quietly: how do you reach the frontier of your field without leaving home for good? The people who built Med&X had lived both sides of that question, training in Croatia and then at some of the world's leading hospitals and laboratories.
Rather than treat that distance as a loss, we turned it into a bridge. We began gathering people: students hungry for a first taste of a world-class lab, clinicians looking for collaborators, and senior scientists glad to give their time to the next generation. From those gatherings grew the Plexus Conference, the Med&X Accelerator, the Biomedical Forum and Building Bridges.
Today Med&X lives between Croatia and the world, and everything we build is mutual by design. Croatian biomedicine gains partners and visibility, and our international friends gain a warm, serious community to develop ideas alongside. This is the power of talent and of young professionals given a real chance: the bridge keeps getting wider, and Croatian science keeps growing with it.
