The Advisory Council
A small honorary circle of respected physicians and scientists who lend their name to the Med&X mission and open a door when we ask.
Founding members, being announced.
Portraits arrive here as each name is confirmed. Below is how the wall will read: a woven line of physicians and scientists, each lending their name to Med&X.
The Council launches with its founding members. We are completing that circle now, no more than a dozen names, and each one will appear here as it is confirmed.
An honorary role, written as an invitation.
No legal duties, no votes, no governance. That work stays with the association's own bodies. What we ask for is a name, a little judgment, and a door opened now and then.
A name, lent to the line
The Council is honorary and non-fiduciary. Members lend their name, title and affiliation to Med&X. There are no legal duties, no votes and no governance. That responsibility stays with the association's elected bodies.
Counsel, lightly given
We ask for judgment, not hours. A reading of a plan, a note on a decision, an introduction that would take us a year to make on our own. Light-touch, and always at the member's own pace.
Doors, opened when asked
Med&X grew because people opened doors for the next person. Council members do the same: a word to a laboratory, a hospital or a foundation, when the moment calls for it and only then.
One meeting a year, in Zagreb.
The Council gathers once a year during Plexus week in Zagreb, alongside the conference and the Plexus Gala. No extra travel is asked of anyone. It is a single evening among people who are already glad to be in the same city.
- Once a yearThe Council meets during Plexus week in Zagreb, so the one gathering asks for no journey a member was not already making.
- One-year termThe term is one year and renews on its own, unless either side would rather step back. Nothing is signed in perpetuity.
- A small circleWe keep the Council to no more than a dozen members, so every name on the wall carries weight.
The line gathers.
Med&X has always moved by gathering people: a student in Split, a laureate in Boston, at the same table. The Advisory Council is the next name on that line. If you have been invited to join, a seat is held for you.
Bringing the world's medicine to Croatia, and Croatia's medicine to the world.
