Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often, grouped by who is asking. For precise eligibility, fees, and dates, follow the links to the relevant program page or write to us and a real person will reply.
For applicants
For students and early-career researchers considering a Med&X Accelerator research exchange.
Applications typically open in the autumn ahead of the summer internship. The exact opening date, deadline, and required materials are announced each cycle on the Accelerator page and in our news. If you would like a reminder when the next round opens, write to info@medx.hr.
The Accelerator is built for motivated students and early-career researchers in biomedicine and related fields who want hands-on research experience at a leading host institution. Specific eligibility, including study stage and language expectations, is listed with each open call on the Accelerator page. If you are unsure whether your background fits, ask us before the deadline rather than ruling yourself out.
Selected participants spend a focused research period embedded in a host lab, working on a defined project alongside a mentor. The aim is real contribution, not observation: you leave with skills, a network, and in many cases a result you can build on. Internship length and host options vary by cycle and are described on the Accelerator page.
Applications are reviewed on academic strength, motivation, and fit with available host projects. Decision timelines are published with each call so you know when to expect a reply. We aim to notify every applicant, whether or not they are selected. Questions about a submitted application can go to info@medx.hr.
For attendees
For everyone planning to join the Plexus Conference and its anchor dinner, the Plexus Gala.
Registration is handled through a single secure link where you choose which parts of the experience you want to attend. Start from the Plexus page or go straight to register online. Current dates, the program, and what each pass includes are kept up to date on the Plexus page.
The Plexus Gala is the anchor evening of the Plexus Conference rather than a standalone event. During registration you can add the Gala to your attendance. Seating and ticket details are described on the Gala page, and you can secure a place through the same registration link.
Pricing differs by component and can include early-bird windows, so we keep the current figures on the registration flow rather than risk listing a stale number here. The exact fees you will pay are always shown before you confirm. See the Plexus page for an overview, or email info@medx.hr with a specific question.
The program is announced and expanded in the run-up to the conference, so the confirmed line-up grows over time. Past editions have welcomed figures such as Nobel laureate Martin Chalfie, PhD. You can follow who has been announced on the speakers page and read accepted contributions in the book of abstracts.
If your plans change, get in touch as early as you can. The terms that apply to your booking, including any change or refund conditions, are shown during checkout and in your confirmation. For anything specific to your registration, write to info@medx.hr with the email you used to register.
For Forum members
For members and prospective members of the Med&X Biomedical Forum community in Croatia.
The Biomedical Forum is our domestic convening in Croatia, bringing together researchers, clinicians, and students to share work and build connections close to home. You can read about its purpose and recent gatherings on the Biomedical Forum page.
You can express interest and join through our member portal. Start from the Forum page or join the community directly. Any membership requirements for a given cycle are described alongside the call to join.
Members take part in Forum gatherings, connect with peers across Croatian biomedicine, and stay close to the wider Med&X network and its programs. The current benefits and any upcoming sessions are listed on the Forum page and in our events calendar.
For sponsors & donors
For organizations and individuals who want to back Med&X through sponsorship or a gift.
We work with partners across our programs, from the Plexus Conference to the Accelerator. The best first step is a short conversation about what you would like to support. Tell us a little about your organization through our sponsorship inquiry and we will share the options that fit.
Yes. Individual gifts of any size help sustain the programs and the students they reach. You can read about the impact and the ways to give on the donate page, or start a conversation about giving with us directly.
Hosts are central to the Accelerator. If your institution or company can offer a mentored research project, we would be glad to explore it. Reach out through our host inquiry and we will walk you through what hosting involves.
Med&X is a registered non-profit and we take stewardship of support seriously. Our governance documents are available on the governance and transparency page. If you would like more detail before giving, write to info@medx.hr.
