The participant guide

Join Plexus 2026, two days that put you in the room.

Plexus is for young biomedical professionals, physicians, scientists, and medical students, from Croatia and abroad. Two days of paneled lectures, panel discussions, and fireside chats, built so you actually meet the speakers and your peers. This year, the thread running through it is AI in medicine.

Until Plexus 2026
What Plexus is

A conference built around the conversation, not the stage.

Plexus runs on paneled lectures, panel discussions, and fireside chats: the latest in medicine and science, presented so leading voices share the stage and perspectives meet in real time. The talks are the starting point, not the whole event.

It is networking first. The two days are deliberately small, so a student can ask a real question and a leader has the time to answer it. You leave having met world-leading speakers and a room full of peers at the same point in their careers.

Panels, not monologues, so the conversation stays open.
01The format

Three ways the program comes alive.

Every session is built to keep speakers and participants close, and to keep the energy up across both days.

Paneled lectures

Headline science and medicine, presented so leading voices share the stage and you hear more than one view on the hard questions.

Panels

Cross-disciplinary discussion across a wide range of topics, from AI in medicine to the frontiers of research, with room for your questions.

Fireside chats

Candid talks on career paths, the hard choices, and the failures behind them, told first-hand by leaders in biomedicine.

02Who Plexus is for

If you are early in biomedicine, this room is built for you.

Plexus draws a young, focused crowd from Croatia and abroad. Wherever you are starting from, you will find people a few steps ahead and the leaders who set the path.

Young physicians

Residents and early-career doctors mapping where clinical medicine is heading, and how to build a career inside it.

Scientists & researchers

Graduate students, postdocs, and early-stage investigators working at the bench and looking outward to where the field is going.

Medical students

Students deciding what kind of doctor or scientist they want to become, with direct access to people who have already made that call.

From Croatia & abroad

Most participants come from Croatia, and a substantial share from abroad, a two-way exchange that brings global expertise to Zagreb.

03The two days

How December 4 and 5 actually run.

The shape of each day is set so the talks lead straight into the networking. The full program is being finalized and published ahead of the conference.

December 4

Sessions, then the evening

A full day of programming that opens into an open evening.

  • Paneled lectures & panelsFree Headline science and medicine across the day, with room for questions from the floor.
  • Fireside chatsFree Candid, up-close conversations on the career paths behind the work.
  • Evening networkingFree The day closes with an open evening that brings speakers, students, and rising professionals together.
December 5

Sessions, plus time at the table

A second day of programming with the speakers within reach.

  • Breakfast with speakers Start the day at the table with people on the program. Fewer chairs than a lecture hall, far more access.
  • Coffee with speakers Small, informal breaks placed beside the speakers, so a quick introduction can turn into a real conversation.
  • Paneled lectures, panels & fireside chatsFree The second day of sessions continues across the program's themes.
04What is included

Free to attend, with a few networking extras.

The conference itself is free. A handful of close-contact networking moments carry a small charge, which keeps those tables small enough to actually be useful.

Why attend

Three reasons people keep coming back.

Plexus is a short event with a long reach. In two days you build relationships, see where your field is heading, and meet the people whose careers you are trying to learn from.

Networking that actually works

Coffee, breakfast, and an evening together keep the speakers in the room and within reach, not behind a rope. The cap on numbers means real introductions, not a scrum.

Career paths, told plainly

Fireside chats go into the part no one usually says out loud: the turning points, the setbacks, and the decisions behind the careers you admire.

The latest science, up close

The 2026 program centers on AI in medicine: where machine learning is reaching the clinic and the lab, what it changes, and where the real limits still sit.
